Hello everyone,

Mike and I checked out the new restaurant called “Alchemy” which is an outdoor place that is attached to Giovanni’s.  Although it is outdoor, it is open for all seasons because they have large garage type doors that can be closed in colder or rainy times.

The atmosphere of Alchemy was extremely pleasant, especially so because we went on a nice night so we could enjoy the outdoor air.  The decor and the overall feel of the place was very modern.  It would be a great place to bring a date or meet with friends, but probably not an ideal place to bring little people.  The service was average, but it must be mentioned that there was this peculiar mustached man who continuously patrolled the aisle and peered at our table, presumably to see if we required anything.  It was somewhat uncomfortable and we could have done without him.

The cuisine was quite unique at Alchemy.  The menu consisted of many combinations of ingredients that aren’t generally seen on a menu.  We chose from the many artisan pizzas that they offer, the “Desperado.”  The pizzas are about 10 inches and can feed two mildly hungry people. but not two starving people.  To be honest, we did not love our choice.  We expected it to be spicy because it contained chili sauce and jalapenos, but it was disappointingly mild.  It was 12 dollars, which is a standard price we felt.  The menu boasted of its 35 “craft beers” but we did not partake in any of those.  The prices of the drinks were moderate to high.

Unfortunately, we failed to take any pictures but we will be giving Alchemy another review because it is so new to Rockford.  Overall, we enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to someone seeking a new experience in Rockford.
